In August, after the completion of 2-year-long construction woks, a new fashion and recreation centre called Tasku was opened in Tartu. The cost of the centre is 540 million EEK and the surface area 42,000 m2. In the building there are 40 shops and service areas, a cinema and one of South-Estonia’s biggest catering establishments that accommodates about one thousand visitors.
„The keywords that can be used for this construction project are ‘huge’, ‘complicated’ and ‘lengthy’,” said Ants Mitt, Construction Director of AS YIT Ehitus, who was responsible for the building of the complex.
The main contract for project management of the third construction stage of the Emajõe Business Centre construction project in Tartu was concluded on 8th November, 2006.
Tasku, being located at the junction of Turu and Soola street, forms the new city centre for Tartu together with Tartu Kaubamaja. In the centre there is also the first multiplex cinema of the region, the biggest conference center in South-Estonia, different catering establishments, fashion shops of many well-known brands, and parking spaces for more than 550 cars.
The building was designed by AS Arhitektuuribüroo Kalle Rõõmus and built by AS YIT Ehitus.
