Ceremonial opening of Viljandi rowing slipway

The ceremonial opening of the Viljandi slipway took place on Saturday 9th of May at 1 pm near the World Tree (Ilmapuu) of the Viljandi manor park and Lake Viljandi. Thanks to that the Viljandi Rowing Club now has considerably better and more suitable training conditions. The new 550 m² building located next to the rowing club has storage space for 45 boats and also space for repairing the boats. The building has a tower for referees, which makes it possible to hold international competitions in Viljandi.

The project received much praise from the town and people shared the idea that the rowing slipway building was definitely one of the strongest candidates in 2009 for the title of best wooden building. The Viljandi rowing slipway was designed by PAIK Arhitektid OÜ and the builder is YIT Ehitus (Western-Estonian region).
