YIT Ehitus and Tehnopol signed an agreement to develop the center of Mechatronics in Tallinn
YIT Ehitus Ltd. and Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol Foundation signed an agreement to build the Center of Mechatronics (a combination of mechanical engineering, electronics and ICT) in Tallinn, Estonia. The Center of Mechatronics brings additional 9 000 square meters of office, R&D and laboratory space for technology based companies into the synergetic environment of Tehnopol.
This 7 million euro development project will be completed in spring 2012.
The member of Tehnopol´s board, Mr. Pirko Konsa, said that the aim of the Center of Mechatronics is to create special infrastructure to bring together business, education and R&D activities that boost the international growth of electronics and machine building sector in Estonia.
“Center of Mechatronics will be built in Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol, close to Tallinn University of Technology and IT College. This enables to combine modern engineering skills with business ambitions. We are very glad that after one and a half year the companies in Estonia are more competitive and attractive to foreign investments. We believe the Center becomes a crucial landmark that creates an international cooperation bridge with space technologies, aeronautics or other top level engineering required sectors,” said Pirko Konsa.
The Chairman of YIT Ehitus Ltd. Board Mr. Margus Põim appreciates the value of developing new and innovative projects like the Center of Mechatronics.
“We can fully implement our skills and knowledge into every building phase of the Center – starting from the architectural ideas and financing matters to the contract signing with tenant companies. This is a good example of our focus projects. We decided to start the cooperation with Tehnopol because they have excellent environment and concept for integrating business and science. You can assess the quality of our project in the sense that the majority of the Center is already covered with preliminary rental agreements,” said Margus Põim.
Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol (www.tehnopol.ee) is a science and business environment for knowledge based companies. Today there are more than 150 companies, Tallinn University of Technology and IT College in Tehnopol.
